The historical place of our village is Maduwanwela Walawwa

Maduwanwela Walawwa is located in a beautiful environment near the 14th mile post on the Embilipitiya Suriyakanda Highway which belongs to the Kolonna Divisional Secretariat in the Ratnapura District of the Sabaragamuwa Province. The land in Walawwa is a large area of about 20 acres. The beautiful garden full of valuable foliage highlights the beauty of the surroundings of the palace. The outer wall of the Maduwanwela Palace, which is decorated with three walls, is made of strong black stone. Its entrance is called the "Stone Door". There are beautiful scrolls on either side of the entrance and a stone arch in the shape of a dragon pandal. There are two carved lotus buds on either side of the pandal. It is said that there were three full jars near it which were made earlier. The section that connects to the central part of the palace has beautiful inscriptions and carvings. The inner wall is called the "Lamp Wall" and has a beautiful chandelier. Also, the cool water well that provided water to the palace, the ruins of the tiled bathroom and the hundreds of years old kumbuk and hick trees proudly reveal the personality of the great aristocrat who lived in the palace.

Maduwanwela Palace is historically significant due to the great architectural prowess of its architect. That skill is evident in every inch of the palace grounds. Among them are some of the finest designs. All of them are of equal importance and have managed to attract the attention of local and foreign tourists today. The main one is the water fountain built in the huge courtyard of the palace. Built on a 3 foot high black stone platform, the palace has three entrances. At the foot of the steps are moonstones with ivory statues. After entering through the main entrance, one enters the hall called the Great Bungalow where one can see a living photograph of the Maduwanwela district. The frame of this photograph, which shows a three-dimensional form, consists of delicate carvings made from the trunks of siyambala and kanamediriya trees. The frame also includes beautiful scrolls, scrolls and a small pandal. Next to the photo of the country gentleman is a photo of his second wife, Kalawane Kumarihami. In addition, the room called the Great Bungalow has only a pantry made of black stone, a chair made of black stone, an urinal, a cow's head and the remains of a bathroom.

The small bungalow next to the Great Bungalow was fitted with a door and door which had been brought to attack the Dutch fort at Katuwana. The door frame is made of single jack wood. It is about three feet wide and about two and a half inches thick. This small bungalow has been used as a meeting hall and is covered with four ornaments. There is a well-lit central courtyard with a crystal mirror for guests. The stairwell surrounding the central courtyard is decorated with tiles. The wooden pillars of the stupa are related to the carvings of the Kandyan period. The wooden beams used everywhere are neatly woven.

The four-cornered corridor is the palace's reception hall. An important feature is that the floor is covered with porcelain with the image of Queen Victoria. Is the opinion.

The roof tiles of the palace are of Kandy era tiles. Only the courtroom and part of the kitchen are roofed with Sinhala rustic tiles (the palace grounds are made of fine clay). Around the 1930s, the palace had 121 rooms and 21 central courtyards. Today there are 43 rooms and 7 central courtyards. Evidence is still evident that there was a good drainage system that diverted all the water that collects into the central courtyards and the Walawwatta into the Maduwanwela Lake, displaying this invaluable skill. Among the rooms in the Maduwanwela Walawwa, the satin palace occupies an important place. The basement was plastered with graphite and whitewashed to make it a cool room. It was used for the comfort of white officers accustomed to the cold climate.

Another feature of the palace is the long house dance room built to entertain the Maduwanwela district with an artistic heart. Next to it is the billiard room built for the English aristocracy and sportsmen. In the center of the floor was a pile of gold and gems. At the entrance to the dungeon was a secret box where guns, swords, and sticks could be kept. There was an armory adjacent to the dormitory and it is said that there were two artillery pieces that attacked the Dutch fort at Katuwana. There was also a country liquor store near the armory. Adjacent to the District Dungeon is the Kalawana Kumarihami Dungeon.

The dining room and kitchen of the palace were in the center of the palace, while Kumarihamila's bathrooms were at the back of the palace. Storage rooms, granaries, etc. are all still visible today. However, in order to see them in the future, they need to be preserved. The ceiling is decorated with floral carvings with paint on the ceiling. There are also secret pots and pans found in a royal palace. There was also a trial room in the palace as the jurisdiction of the area was vested in the district. There was a corridor leading to the courtroom near the main bungalow, and a deck of buffalo horns was mounted above the entrance to the courtroom. In this way, the architectural creations spread throughout the Maduwanwela Walawwa can be summarized, thereby enlivening the heritage of a proud generation.

 Maduwanwela lineage

History of the Maduwanwela dynasty dates back to about 1700 AD. The ancestor of the Maduwanwela dynasty lived in the Madana area then known as Dedarangamuwa. Maduwanwela Wijayasundara Janayaka Abhayakon Mudaliya who ruled under King Wimaladharmasuriya. Mudiyanselagelokuappuhamy) He is the one who obtained the sleeping villages for the Panamura areas of Kolonna. Maduwanwela Kodituwakku Nilame ruled Maduwanwela under the Sinhala king during the reign of the Dutch governor Vangraf. Thereafter, Maduwanwela Wijayasundera Ekanayake Abhayakoon Kodithuwakku Mudiyanse, the father of the last of the Maduwanwela dynasty, ruled the Ralahamy area. Born on September 11, 1844 in Maduwanwela, Wijayasundera Ekanayake Abhayakoon Kodithuwakku Mudiyansela's Sir James William Maduwanwela Maha District was the last heir of this dynasty. An intelligent ruler with warlike ideas, he was nicknamed the "Black Prince of Maduwanwela". When she reached the proper age in Maduwanwela district, she married Eknaligoda Kumarihami of Kuruwita and had one daughter. The daughter, popularly known as Kora Menike, became disabled. Contributing to the development of the country, he was a principled leader who won the hearts of the people of his area. This fact is well reflected in a condolence letter written after his death.

In the Maduwanwela district, he was the registrar of marriages from Balangoda to Kataragama. It is also said that Sirima Ratwatte Dias Bandaranaike, the three time Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the first woman Prime Minister of the world, visited the Maduwanwela dynasty and was a frequent visitor when she was a child.

After the death of Maduwanwela District, the estate belonged to Sir Francis Molamure, the Speaker of the Legislative Council and the First Parliament, the son of one of his brothers. The department was taken over.

The charm around Maduwanwela

The area around the Maduwanwela Walawwa is also home to a number of rare ecological creations as the ancient ancestors preserved the balance of the natural environment during their creative work. The limestone cave at Vavulpane is one of the most important of these. Geologists believe that this cave is about 500 million years old and is located in the remnants of the Bulutota Hills at an elevation of 913 feet above sea level. An eastern dinosaur fossil was also found outside the cave, as well as an animal body identified as a stoned dinosaur body.

The Araporuwa river and the Buluthota river flowing through the Kolonna area create several beautiful waterfalls. They are Gonnanella, Duliella, Neraluella etc. Exciting events in Maduwanwela area. Rare species of flowers and plants are found in this area which is unique in terms of biodiversity. Maduwanwela Maduwanwela also attracts tourists with its folk dances and Kitul honey which are endemic to the Kolonna area. At present, the Maduwanwela area is increasingly attracting tourists. It is no secret that the cultural splendor of the area, both culturally and historically, is the main reason for its attractiveness.

Dolphins

Animals that live closest to humans, as well as land animals, also inhabit the high seas. In a very short period of time, there was an amazing creature that imitated man more closely. That's the dolphin. Dolphins are also abundant in Sri Lankan waters. These are considered to be the most intelligent animal division. The dolphin, a marine mammal, belongs to the genus Cetacean in scientific classification.

Dolphins quickly become friendly with humans. They also like to hug and love the coach. The human name of this fish can mean 'fish with a womb'.

Dolphins love to be spotted and love the human voice. Located on Monkeemia Beach in Western Australia is a place where dolphins can be petted, petted and fed. Today, the place is a popular destination for both Australians and foreign tourists.

The name of this fish can mean 'fish with a womb'.

The adult dolphin is 8 to 12 feet long and weighs 300-400 pounds. Also, Dolphin's milk is about six times more energy efficient than cow's milk and has a higher fat content.

foods

A carnivorous fish. Dolphins feed on oysters and small fish. But its most delicious food is flies.

Behavior pattern

Considering it a pleasure to live in a group, it can be said that if there was one herd, there would be at least a thousand. Dolphins are often seen swimming and playing in the sea for travelers who regularly travel by sea.

Sleep

Despite being a human being, dolphins spend less than thirty seconds sleeping. Unlike other terrestrial mammals, dolphins have to come to the surface to breathe. Five minutes of sleep is a very long sleep for dolphins.

In the early stages of sleep, dolphins sleep in one half of the brain. That is, with only one eye closed. The other half and the eye follow changes in the environment and inquire about enemies. In the second stage of sleep, both eyes are closed as usual and go to sleep.

Special features of dolphins

Popular as an animal with an unusual set of emotions.

Sensory abilities

Many dolphins have very high levels of vision both in and out of the water.

They also have a higher level of hearing than humans.

Depending on how their teeth are arranged, they act as an antenna, receiving signals from the world and helping to determine the exact location of an object.

Also, their skin has a very high level of tactile receptors, which act as a very sensitive sensory organ.

But because dolphins do not have olfactory nerves, they are unable to detect odors.

A person who is able to save people's lives has the same qualities as a human being.

A world of imitating the human voice.

The relationship between man and
dolphins

Different people have written different things about dolphins. A few years ago, a Russian professor named Kleinberg and two other Russian zoologists, V. Belkovich and A. Sabkov, published a book entitled The Mysterious Beast of the Ocean, which contains important facts about dolphins. Here are some examples of the relationship between man and this wonderful creature.

For example, in the late 19th century, a fisherman named Pelo Ras Jack guided ships to navigate ships in the Gulf of New Zealand, helping ships navigate the Gulf of Cook. This fish has served man for decades.

Rainbow

Do not stretch out your hand. The rainbow disappears. It is a sinful act ... The end of the rainbow is in a lake or in the sea.

Somehow in a science lesson I realized that some of the stories about it were false.

How did you remember the seven colors of the rainbow or the spectrum?

"The boy who breaks the golden orange sees the blue line" is, as everyone remembers, the first to suggest this spectrum was Isaac Newton, who lived during the reign of King Charles II.

Simply put, a rainbow shines because of the refraction of light at the raindrops when the sun shines. There are many colors in the white beam of light. As one passes through the prism, the refraction or bending of each color chain changes.

The blue ship is at a greater angle than the red light refraction. Then the two colors are slightly farther apart.

Although Isaac Newton's predecessors sent light through the prism and made rainbows or spectra, they thought that the dyes in that prism created such spectra. Newton did two experiments to disprove this. When one light color is transmitted from one prism to another, the color of the second prism is the same as that of the first prism.

No matter how many times I have seen a rainbow, all of a sudden I remember the same old things..but now the rainbow does not fly as much as before ..

Coral reefs

Coral reefs are argonite structures produced by shallow, tropical, or nutrient-deficient seawater species. These coral reefs can be damaged by high nutrient content released from agricultural areas, encouraging algae growth. The predominant species of many coral reefs are rocky corals. These are made up of calcium carbonate epithelial secretion gnawing nideria. As a result, the skeletal material accumulates and the fragments accumulate on top of each other in the ocean waves, forming large calcium-rich habitats that support other living corals and other species of plant and animal life. Although this coral is found in tropical and temperate waters, coral reefs form in the region between 30 latitudes and 30 longitudes from the equator. Coral is the creation of a very small organism. Invertebrates are small, soft, transparent organisms that absorb calcium carbonate from ocean water and form a shell outside their body. .

The coral reef begins with a single polyp. The creature that floats in the ocean water settles there when it encounters a hard surface. After that, the larvae begin to form, and the parents attach themselves to the polyp to form the skeleton. Called a coral reef. The growth energy of the coral reef depends on the microscopic plant Susantale, which feeds on the fauna, and coexists with that organism. Oxygen polyp produced by photosynthesis is inhaled by organisms. In addition, corals get their beautiful colors from Susantale. Coral reefs or hermatypic coral reefs (shallower than 50m). That is, only up to the depths of sunlight sufficient for photosynthesis. Coral polymorphisms, although not photosynthesized, have a symbolic association with the zooxanthellate, a single-celled algae. As a result, coral reefs grow faster in clear water, which receives more sunlight. Without this coexistence, coral reefs would grow very slowly to their spectacular structure. Corals breed both sexually and asexually. Individuals can use both to reproduce during their lifetime. Corals sexually breed by internal or external fertilization. Reproductive cells are located in the mesenteric membranes, which extend into a linear layer of tissue in the abdominal cavity. Some adult corals are bisexual. As they grow, they see very little uniform sex change.

The coral reef ecosystem is one of the most fascinating coastal ecosystems in the world. It can also be described as a topographic system created by biological processes.

Rice

Popularly known as the Oriental Granary of Asia, Sri Lanka has introduced over 2000 varieties of indigenous rice to the world.

Paddy cultivation in Sri Lanka is revered and the authenticity of this process is proved by the production strategies and the holiness associated with the production process.

Rice has a sacred place among Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims. Also, rice (milk rice) cooked with coconut milk was first reserved for the Blessed Sacrament as a Buddha Pooja and even today Kiribath holds a special place in sacred ceremonies and important occasions in Sri Lankan culture. These gods claim that the traditional native varieties of paddy, which are highly nutritious, have the potential to cure various ailments such as diabetes and cancer that exist today.

In the past, these varieties of paddy were used for medicinal purposes. It is said that this paddy has the ability to remove toxins from the body. The gods say that in today's society, where poison is applied to every crop, the human body is like a storehouse of food poisoning. The puree of this rice is used in the treatment of Hela official medicine. It is said that the only way to get rid of toxins stored in the human body is to drink porridge from this medicinal rice.

Types of rice currently cultivated by our farmers

 suwadal
 kaluheenati
 Ma vi
 pachchaperum mal
 kurulu thudu
 rath deal
 Madathawalu
 Hetada vi
 kurulu thuda
 kaluhinati
kahawanu

Today, traditional rice is also exported. Accordingly, the pioneers are trying to gain international recognition for some of the tea names as well as for the traditional Sri Lankan rice.

KIthul tree

The coconut tree is known as Kapruka in our society. However, a closer look reveals that Kitul is a similar Kapruka. There is a separate culture associated with Kitul. Related to that, there is a wealth of knowledge that we have inherited. Today, all of this is gradually disappearing. The reason for this is the lack of state attention as well as society. Kitula is a kapruka. Almost all of the components here are economically viable. In general usage, we are aware of only a handful of uses such as honey, jaggery and kithul flour. However, there is a separate food culture associated with kithula. We can enhance its value with new kithul foods and new products, especially with the new knowledge that comes from traditional knowledge. Kithula is so useful that even kithul fibers are economically valuable. It is said that it was exported in the past. Kitula is used in traditional medicine not only for human but also for animal diseases.

Properties of Kitul Honey

Kithul honey is low in calories compared to other sweet foods. The medicinal value here is also very high. It has a moderate antioxidant quality that is good for health, not just what our country needs. These products have the potential to expand as much as exports.

Kitul florists should be given professional value. As the kithul industry continues to thrive today as a business, substandard products such as low quality honey and jaggery are available in the market at very cheap prices. As a result, even the consumer today fails to recognize pure sweet jaggery. Therefore, it is imperative to establish a separate body for the kithul industry itself. At present, kithul florists need to be given professional value. I see the other problem with taking the kithul industry forward as a business today is the availability of substandard products such as low quality honey and jaggery in the market at very cheap prices. As a result, even the consumer today fails to recognize pure sweet jaggery. Therefore, it is imperative to establish a separate institution dedicated to the kithul industry itself. It is also good for our health.

Facts on the development of kithul production,

Quality Kithul Product Model outlets can be expanded throughout the city to expand Kithul products in the local market. Government intervention is essential, especially to curb the sale of substandard kithul products. ..

Sri Dalada Maligawa

Sri Dalada Maligawa is the Temple of the Tooth where the left tooth relic of the Supreme Buddha is now housed. The present Temple of the Tooth is located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. During the Kandyan period, it was located in the then existing royal palace complex. The Temple of the Tooth was first built by King Wimaladharmasuriya I.

The city of Kandy, where the Temple of the Tooth is located, has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The monks of both Malwathu and Asgiriya offer offerings to the Tooth Relic daily. This pooja (theva) is performed three times a day (morning, noon and evening). The Nanumura festival is held on Wednesdays as a special offering. Here the Tooth Relic is symbolically bathed in fragrant medicinal water. It is believed that the water from this bath has a healing effect. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is worshiped daily by thousands of devotees from all over the world. 1988. The cultural value of the temple, which brings great value to Buddhists around the world, is immense. This architecture is a unique combination of Kandyan style architecture with a unique style used to build the "Temple of the Tooth" which was previously housed in other kingdoms.

By the time of the last Kingdom of Kandy, the Temple of the Tooth was the world's tallest shrine.

Tea

Sri Lanka is one of the largest tea producers in the world, surpassing other countries in terms of tea consumption. Most Sri Lankans do not forget to taste at least three cups of hot tea a day. Sri Lanka is one of the top tea producing countries in the world. Even the royal family of the United Kingdom puts Sri Lankan tea first among their own drinks, highlighting the global demand for Sri Lankan tea. Tea can be served at a guest house, at festive occasions as well as for breakfast.

Tea is a natural source of antioxidants.πŸ‘ˆ

(Adding sugar or milk to tea does not destroy that quality. )

Tea drinkers have a much lower risk of heart attack and death.Tea drinkers have a natural defense against cancer of the digestive system as well as the formation of bladder stones.

The ancient Chinese also identified a number of properties of tea.
They say that drinking tea relieves loneliness, fatigue, and pain.

Bambarakanda Falls

Bambarakanda Falls

Bambarakanda Falls is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is the 299th tallest waterfall in the world. Its height is 263 meters or 863 feet. This waterfall is also very popular among tourists not only in Sri Lanka but also in the world. This waterfall is also known as 'Bambarakele' waterfall and is formed by a small stream which is a tributary of the Walawe river. The Walawe River, which starts from the Horton Plains, then divides into several smaller tributaries, one of which is the Bambarakanda Falls. At the bottom of the falls, the small stream joins the Walawe river again.😍

From the platform near the waterfall you can experience the splendor of this beautiful Bambarakanda waterfall and this place is very suitable for bathing unlike other waterfalls in Sri Lanka. But do not go near the place where the waterfall falls as it is deeper. There are also several bathing spots at the bottom of the falls.πŸ‘Œ

It is used for cultivation in the highlands during the dry season, so the waterfall looks very thin. There are two other beautiful waterfalls near this waterfall, Lanka Ella and Yalatenna Falls and we can experience the beauty of these two waterfalls on our way to Bambarakanda.πŸ’™

Meditation

Meditation makes our human life more healing and more meaningful. Meditation is a special kind of meditation that develops your mind. This is called mindfulness meditation.

If we can develop meditation, our mind will begin to develop rapidly in this life itself: Meditation is a method of developing the productive states of the mind. Few people in this world develop the mind. We can be among those few.

We do this by constantly generating certain mental states until they become a habit. Physically, meditation is pointed out as a real building of the latest neural pathways.

Benefits of Meditation

There are many different effective mental states that can be developed through meditation:

More relaxation and less stress

More focus and less distractions

Being more relaxed and free from constant worries

To have a better understanding of ourselves and our lives and to have a similar understanding of others

Developing many positive attitudes such as compassion and kindness

Most of us need a calmer, clearer and happier mind. If we are stressed or in a negative state, it makes us unhappy. It adversely affects our health and can destroy our livelihoods, family life and friendships.

If we are tired of stress and instant anger, then we may be looking for ways to help - like meditation. Meditation enables us to overcome emotional shortcomings without any side effects.

We need a realistic approach to meditation. It is a tool for achieving positive results, not an instant solution that can be applied to anything. No result can be achieved for one reason. But the causes and consequences are many. For example, if we have high blood pressure, meditation can help. But if there is no change in diet or exercise, there is nothing that can be done through meditation.

Black Panthera

Recently we heard the farewell of a rare animal endemic to Sri Lanka.😞

These black tigers include Panthera pardus or Leopard, one of the five major Panthera species in the world. A name used to address. (Ex: sand leopard, green leopard)

Kingdom: The Beast

Family: Chordata

Type: Mammalian

Tribe: Canivora

Caste: Felidae

Caste: Panthera

Special: P.pardus

Scientific name of the Sri Lankan tiger

Panthera pardus kotiyaπŸ†

There are eight subspecies of tiger (Panthera pardus) around the world, one of which is the Panthera pardus kotiya. This subspecies is endemic to Sri Lanka. Typical tigers have light yellow (rusty) fur, with a long, pointed tip at the tip of the tail. The black tiger found in Nallathanniya, which has been the subject of some controversy in recent times, is a species belonging to the above species. Zoologists point out that although these animals are black, they do not belong to any other species but to the subspecies Panthera pardus kotiya. Listed as an endangered species (conservation status - EN). This subspecies is found in forests, tea estates, plantations, home gardens and even pine forests.

Depending on the physical characteristics of these animals, the adult male tiger weighs 56kg - 77kg (124 - 170 lb lb) and body length (from head to tail) 1.27m - 1.42m (4 ft 2 - 4 ft 8 in). The slightly longer tail is usually 86cm - 97cm (2 10 in 10 ft 3 ft 8 in) known tigers: tigers generally have little resemblance to jaguars.πŸ’›

Both Jaguars and Tigers belong to the Black Panthers group, which has become one of the most sought after species in the world.

The existence of these black tigers, which were considered extinct in Sri Lanka decades ago, was reported again in early January this year 😍. This could lead to a sharp decline in the Sri Lankan Black Tiger population in Sri Lanka. It is our duty to save these animals which are lost to the country by killing them for their skin and falling into the traps set by other animals.

‍My favorite flower

        😍

Lotus is an aquatic plant that blooms in the evening or in the morning. It is the most sun-loving plant. The leaves of the lotus float on the water and undergo photosynthesis on the surface of the leaf.🌷😊

The purple, pink, and white flowers are one of the most sought after flowers in the world. This is a flower that is used by many pilgrims for offerings and is sold in front of shrines for offerings to pilgrims at various places of worship.πŸ’¦πŸ’œ

: This beautiful flower blooms in the middle of a swamp and represents the ability of any person to reach an awakening, regardless of the starting point. The beauty of the lotus flower extracts from the darkness of the mud, and refers to the Buddha who decided to give up life as a prince after witnessing old age and death. The path of the lotus flower awakening can symbolize:😊

: The lotus flower holds a unique place in Buddhist literature. A number of incidents related to this flower are found in Buddhist literature on various occasions from the news that Prince Siddhartha walked on seven lotus flowers. This flower is used to pay homage to the Buddha as well as for home decoration.😍

 Lotus is my favorite flowerπŸŒ·πŸ˜πŸ’Ÿ.

We also find this flower in Sinhala songs on many occasions.🌷
Sisira Senaratne's "Olu Nelum Neriya Ranga La",
Latha Walpola's "Nelum Manel Made Pipunath"
and
M.S. Fernando and Angeline Goonetileke sing "Nelum male pethi kadala"
