| Bambarakanda Falls |
Bambarakanda Falls is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is the 299th tallest waterfall in the world. Its height is 263 meters or 863 feet. This waterfall is also very popular among tourists not only in Sri Lanka but also in the world. This waterfall is also known as 'Bambarakele' waterfall and is formed by a small stream which is a tributary of the Walawe river. The Walawe River, which starts from the Horton Plains, then divides into several smaller tributaries, one of which is the Bambarakanda Falls. At the bottom of the falls, the small stream joins the Walawe river again.π
From the platform near the waterfall you can experience the splendor of this beautiful Bambarakanda waterfall and this place is very suitable for bathing unlike other waterfalls in Sri Lanka. But do not go near the place where the waterfall falls as it is deeper. There are also several bathing spots at the bottom of the falls.π
It is used for cultivation in the highlands during the dry season, so the waterfall looks very thin. There are two other beautiful waterfalls near this waterfall, Lanka Ella and Yalatenna Falls and we can experience the beauty of these two waterfalls on our way to Bambarakanda.π
